Henry County RAC

Penfield College offers a variety of academic programs at Mercer’s Henry County Regional Academic Center. Programs are designed with the working adult student in mind, by offering evening and weekend classes. More than 600 students are pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees at the center. The modern 30,000-square-foot Center opened its doors in 2003 and has continued to expand its course offerings to meet the needs of the community.

The Henry County Regional Academic Center is located in suburban McDonough on the south side of Atlanta. It is conveniently located in McDonough on Henry Parkway, adjacent to the Henry County Administration Building. Easily accessible from I-75, the Henry County Center is set in a tranquil location overlooking a lake and golf course.

Henry County has a population of 203,922, making it Georgia's 8th most populous county and the 10th fastest growing county in the nation.

Libraries

The library at the Henry County Regional Academic Center is part of the Mercer University Library network that serves as a gateway of information resources through strong collections and innovative, technology-rich patron services to support the educational needs of our working adult students. Our libraries’ collections offer a wide variety of print, non-print and electronic resources, including web-based library catalogs and remotely accessible full-text resources.

Mercer is a full participant in GALILEO, the award-winning statewide library network of full-text resources, e-books and indexes that brings a full array of information resources to the desktop.

Information Technology Services

A robust and constantly expanding infrastructure gives students the technological tools they need to complete coursework and stay connected. Students access the Mercer network through both wireless and wired Internet connections. Our computing labs provide students with specialized software.

The school’s Blackboard intranet site, Mercer’s web-based platform for instructional technology offers a wealth of resources helpful for classroom work and extracurricular activities.

Student Health

The university maintains a health service for all students including those at the Henry County Regional Academic Center. Student Health and Counseling (SHAC) provides medical and mental health services to all currently enrolled Mercer students. Except for Counseling, these services are accessible at the Atlanta and Macon campuses. The SHAC staff works as an integrated treatment team to provide quality care. Most services are free of charge, and any costs incurred can be paid at the time of service or billed to the student account. Appointments are encouraged, and walk-in visits will be accommodated when possible. Our hope is to provide an atmosphere that is welcoming and respectful of the dignity and worth of all students.
