When does the program start?

Students are admitted once annually and begin classes the fall of each year.

When and where will classes meet?

All classes meet on Mercer’s Atlanta campus for instruct or-led evening classes requiring attendance just one night a week per class. Classes meet from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm and/or 7:45 pm to 10:15 pm Monday through Thursday.

Who may apply?

Applicants must hold a master’s degree in counseling or a closely related field from a regionally accredited college or university. Preference is given to graduates of CACREP programs and applicants who are currently licensed as a professional counselor or who have leadership experience in the field.

How long will it take?

The program takes a minimum of three complete years of coursework plus the internship and dissertation.

Can I keep my job and do this program?

The Department of Counselor Education and Supervision believes that a student's success in our doctoral program depends on full-time dedication and commitment. It is strongly recommended that students do not work full time as they are completing this program.
