Alpha Phi Sigma

Alpha Phi Sigma is a national honor society whose primary purpose is to recognize and promote high scholarship among students actively engaged in collegiate preparation for professional services; to keep abreast of the advances in scientific research; to elevate the ethical standards of the Criminal Justice professions; and to establish in the public mind the benefit and necessity of education. The society recognizes academic excellence by undergraduates as well as graduate students of Criminal Justice Sciences.

To become a member as an undergraduate, the student must:

1. Have completed one-third of his/her total hours required for graduation at Mercer

2. Maintain a minimum of 3.2 overall GPA

3. Maintain a minimum of a 3.2 GPA in public safety and criminal justice courses

4. Rank in the top 35% of classes

5. Completed a minimum of four courses within the public safety curriculum

6. Have declared Public Safety Leadership as a major or minor
