Dr. Stefanie Sevcik

Dr. Stefanie Sevcik earned her Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from Brown University specializing in French, Arabic, and English literature in addition to Modern Culture and Media. She earned the M.A. degree in Comparative Literature at Brown and a B.A. in General Literature from Reed College with an emphasis on literary theory. She has served as Lecturer at Harvard University, Rhode Island School of Design, and Roger Williams University and as Faculty Director for Mentored Undergraduate Research and Creative Endeavors and Lecturer of English at Georgia College and State University where she was a University System of Georgia Chancellor’s Learning Scholar, a Diversity Peer Educator, and President of Posters at the Georgia State Capitol. Her interdisciplinary research revolves around literary, artistic, and social media models for women’s resistance and her work has been published in Research in African Literatures, The Journal of the African Literature Association, and a recent edited collection published by Rutgers University Press titled In the Crossfire of History: Women’s War Resistance Discourse in the Global South. Recently, she is very active presenting and publishing work on High-impact Practices including diversifying Mentored Undergraduate Research, Critical Service-Learning, and Writing across the Curriculum. Dr. Sevcik is a Division Representative for the Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) in the Undergraduate Research Program Division (URPD).
